Membership & Auditions
Youth Orchestra was founded in 1952 when 12 music students met
at a high school in downtown Edmonton to talk about forming a
music group. Today, the EYO Association is an integral part of
Edmonton’s cultural life. The
Edmonton Youth Orchestra Association supports two orchestras:
the Senior Orchestra (ages 14 to 24), and the Intermediate Orchestra
(ages 11 to 20).
EYO Intermediate Orchestra members must be 11yrs old by September 1, of the year of the audition. Opportunities are provided for young musicians
to develop their orchestral skills, to increase their knowledge
and appreciation of music, and to enrich the cultural life of
the community through concerts and benefit performances.
